NIT Jamshedpur Advertisement For Recruitment of Emeritus Professor and Professor of Practice

National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India invites applications from Indian nationals in the prescribed format for the posts of Emeritus Professor and Professor of Practice.

Honorarium

Rs. 1,20,000 per month (Consolidated) + Unfurnished accommodation on normal license fee and electricity and water charges as per actuals.

Eligibility Criteria for Emeritus Professor

Faculty superannuating from service in NITs, IITs / Central University as Dean/ Professor / Associate Professor and comparable institutions may be inducted as Professor Emeritus for a maximum period of 3 years.

• Initially duration of the assignment is 1 year, which can be extended up to 3 years, or up to the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
• Candidates must possess Engineering background with international visibility, high-quality of research publications in journals and conferences, fellowship of Academy or Professional Society, must have conducted research projects being funded by Government of India or other organizations, must have supervised M. Tech./ M.Phil. and Ph. D. students. S/he should have associated herself/himself as volunteer and program committee member in national/international conference, editor/editorial committee in reputed journal, and should have dealt patent and consultancy. Preference will be given to candidates having publications of high academic standards with h-index (web of science) 10 or more.
• The Emeritus Professor will be expected to participate in sponsored research and consultancy activities in association with regular faculty members of the Institute. S/he will not be a sole Pl or Supervisor of any project or student respectively. S/he will need to share lab space with a faculty.

Eligibility Criteria for Professor of Practice

Eminent persons from the industry or R&D organisations can be engaged as Professors of Practice, who would be expected to spend full time in the Institute, help to enrich the experience of students by bringing deep understanding and appreciation of the best practices as applied in real world settings in a particular field of study. Additionally, they would help promote the integration of academic scholarship with the practical experience of professionals in a given field.

• Candidates should have reasonable (minimum 10) years of technical, managerial or professional experience. They should have at least a bachelor degree in Engineering/Design or Master’s degree in Engineering/Sciences/ Humanities/Management/Education/Law or related fields. Ph.D. is desirable but not essential. Depending on the years of experience, the person may be offered the position of Professor of Practice. Retired persons from industry/ R&D organisations also will be considered. Professor of Practice posts are not open for those who are in teaching profession.
